Hypnosis and Skydiving

While it’s generally not a good idea to be under hypnosis while jumping out of a plane, more and more people who are eager to skydive but too overcome by fear to do it often (or at all) are turning to an alternative therapy to help them get over their phobeas and take the great leap. This therapy is hypnosis and like any other kind of hypnosis, it uses power of suggestion to help one better manage their fear. Whether it works or not may be for you to decide.
While hypnosis is not meant to treat anxieties or depression of severe types, it has been found that hypnosis for something temporary and that, in the end, is really a lot of fun, can be quite effective. Some even just like to use it just the first time to get over that initial fear of the unknown. However, it’s also important to remember that one of the best ways to overcome a fear of skydiving is to just suit up and do it! Being up there a few times is enough to prove anyone that it’s perfectly safe and a perfect thrill!

Anyone who’s gone skydiving will tell you that it’s the most amazing experience in the world. They will also say that there’s no way to explain it and while that’s true in a way, there are certain things that you should know before you go that will help you be more prepared and ready for this thrilling experience!
1.) Have something on hand to think about in the plane. From the time you leave the ground to the time you get to the jumping point will seem like the longest time in your life for that first jump. It’s very quiet and there’s a lot of time to think so be ready to think about something positive and motivating.
2.) Repeat the plan with the instructor. And then repeat it again. Do you want to jump forward or backward? Would you prefer that they pull the rip cord or do you want to pull it? Will you need to help steer at all? Make sure you know as much as you can before the both of you are in the air.
3.) Have a friend waiting on the ground. Make sure that you pick someone to come that will be excited and happy for you and not so busy being nervous they can’t wave or cheer. Whether you’re still a little scared or exhilerated over what you just accomplished, you will want someone to hug after that first jump!
